Great Success at Ricoh 2008
Over 5500 visitors flocked to the Imagineering Fair at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry recently. Forty manufacturers and engineering organisations with scores of activities kept crowds of exuberant and enthusiastic youngsters occupied for hours

Coachloads of excited inner city schoolchildren also had the rare opportunity to see and learn about engineering not normally accessible to youngsters.

There were activities and challenges for all ages and abilities - from racing cars, rockets and robotics to bridge building, lasers, IT and mechanical challenges.

Youngsters learnt about the sophisticated engineering that keeps aeroplanes in the air and ships afloat. The Energy and Environment Zone, organised by the National Grid Construction Alliance, took visitors into the fascinating world of climate change and energy distribution and conservation where they also learnt how to make a real impact by reducing their own carbon footprint.

The weekend event was followed by an equally successful Careers Day when over 700 older students and schools careers advisors came to hear for themselves from young people who have successfully pursued a career in engineering in various industry sectors and the courses and apprenticeships available.

Now the Imagineering team is looking towards the next Fair!!
