50 ORGANISATIONS SUPPORT LARGEST IMAGINEERING FAIR
EVER - AT RICOH ARENA, COVENTRY. A FABULOUS FAMILY DAY OUT!
|

The largest ever IMAGINEERING FAIR arrives at the Jaguar Exhibition Hall, Ricoh Arena, Coventry on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November 2007 with nearly 50 leading companies and organisations taking part. Jaguar Land Rover, Bentley Motors, Goodrich, National Grid, Perkins, Cummins Engines, Balfour Beatty, Atkins – even the Army and Navy – are just a few of the big names laying on scores of exciting fun activities for 8-16 year olds. This exciting family day-out introduces youngsters to the fascinating world of science, engineering and technology that affects our everyday lives.

There is a mind-blowing array of unusual activities from firing a sweet gun or combustion cannon to simulating a lightning strike and using lasers to create a 3D model of a hand. Regulars, Trevor Baylis and Oscar the Talking Robot are also on hand. There are student racing cars, Scalextric and a model F1 racetrack as well as robotics, IT, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical challenges with opportunities to use the imagination to create Meccano and K’Nex models.

An Energy & Environment Zone takes visitors through the wonderful world of climate change, energy conservation and they can learn how to reduce their carbon footprint. Anyone with any energy left can have a go on the Army’s climbing wall! For the grown-ups there are some stunning vehicles on display including the Jaguar’s XF, James Bond’s famous Jaguar and Lara Croft’s Land Rover! There are fabulous prizes to be won including a mountain bike, hydrogen fueled model car and even a ride in a Bentley Continental GT!

There will also be plenty of opportunities throughout the weekend for youngsters interested in becoming an engineer to find out about careers and apprenticeships in engineering and technology.

With a new upmarket venue, just off Junction 3 of the M6, and new companies, visitors are expected to arrive from across the Midlands. Bob Shanks, Chairman of Imagineering, said: "This year’s Imagineering Fair is by far the biggest and best we have held. We have been delighted at the level of support we have had from some of the UK’s blue chip companies. The move to Ricoh Arena, thanks to Jaguar, has enabled us to provide some fabulous activities. This really is a fabulous, value-for-money day out for all the family.”

The Imagineering Fair is an annual event which to date has taken place at the Town & Country Festival at Stoneleigh Park at August Bank Holiday. The demise of the Town & Country opened up opportunities for Imagineering to put on a bigger and better event in a new location.
