MIDLANDS IMAGINEERING FAIR MOVES TO THE RICOH ARENA
NEW VENUE & NEW DATE – WITH EXCITING NEW FEATURES
Jaguar Exhibition Hall, Ricoh Arena, Coventry. 24-25 November 2007

THE IMAGINEERING FAIR, the exciting family show with fun hands-on activities for youngsters, is to move to a new venue and new date for 2007. The two-day event will be held on 24-25 November 2007 at the Jaguar Exhibition Hall, Ricoh Arena, Coventry and promises to be bigger and better than ever with fascinating features for all the family. There will be scores of fun activities for 8-16 year olds introducing them to the exciting world of engineering and modern technology.

Traditionally this annual show has been held in the Midlands, since 2000, at the Town & Country Festival at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry where it was a major feature, regularly attracting 40,000 visitors. The demise of the Festival has prompted Imagineering to look for new opportunities for expansion and development.

This year new features will include an Energy and the Environment Zone and some exciting robotics. Trevor Baylis, the famous inventor and long-standing supporter of Imagineering will be on hand to talk to visitors as will another popular attraction, Oscar the Talking Robot. Regular supporters, such as Jaguar, National Grid and Goodrich are taking part and new companies are also signing up for this exciting show.

Youngsters will be able to explore the fascinating technology of the modern world with stimulating activities organised by some of the UK’s leading organisations. From submarines to aerospace; manufacturing and CADCAM to motorsport and robotics – and everything in between – youngsters can learn about modern engineering and discover the mind-blowing technology that affects our every day lives. They will be able learn how things are designed, how they are made and how they work with scores of opportunities to have a go.

The new upmarket venue, just off Junction 3 of the M6, has also provided an opportunity for Imagineering to organise a special Careers Day for schools on the preceding Friday 23 November, highlighting exciting careers opportunities available for youngsters across all engineering disciplines. Young visitors will also have chance throughout the whole weekend to ask about careers and apprenticeships from individual organisations.

Bob Shanks, Chairman of Imagineering, said: "Re-locating to this upmarket venue, thanks to Jaguar, has meant we are able to provide some really exciting new activities and challenges and also to broaden our appeal. This is going to be one of the most exciting shows we have put on to date and a really good value-for-money day out for the family."

Extra support has also come from National Grid Construction Alliances who are sponsoring free coach transport to the Fair for group bookings through schools.

The Imagineering Fair is organised by the Imagineering Foundation, an education charity, aimed at introducing youngsters to engineering and manufacturing and encouraging them to consider engineering as a future career. A fundamental principle of Imagineering is that youngsters learn through fun, hands-on involvement and experience all the exciting challenges and possibilities of engineering at first hand.
