The Imagineering Fair returns again to the Royal Bath & West Show at Shepton Mallet in Somerset, packed full with scores of free, fun activities where 8-16 year olds can explore the creative possibilities of science, engineering and technology. There is something for everyone – from computers to manufacturing; from rockets to submarines; automotives to aerospace; REME, the Royal Navy and the RAF and everything in between – including Robbie the talking Robot!
The Westland Schools Challenge between Bucklers Mead and Stanchester Schools will also take place daily for the Westland Imagineering Trophy.
Imagineering Fair at the Royal Bath & West Show 2006 has been developed in association with Year in Industry and is supported by the West of England Aerospace Forum, Airbus, BMT Defence Services, Bournemouth University, Brunel Training, City of Bristol College, EEF Western, Fleet Air Arm Museum, Gloucestershire Setpoint, 6 Bn REME, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, SWMAS, Thales UK, University Centre Yeovil, University of West of England, Westland Helicopters and Yeovil College
The daily Imagineering Team Challenge also returns again with new teams of apprentices and young engineers from Airbus, Thales UK and Westland Helicopters. This year they will be racing specially designed and built trailers around a new exciting and gruelling obstacle course. Also competing against the clock, the race is a test of each team’s ingenuity and skills as well as each individual’s strength. The teams are competing for the prized Imagineering Team Challenge Trophy, specially commissioned and donated by the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton. The adjudicators will be from 6 Battalion REME Regimental Recruiting Team (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers). Westland Helicopters won the Trophy last year and are determined to win it again – so competition is going to be hot!
