Organisation/Event
Description

This newly launched Challenge is to design and build a remotely controlled four wheel drive vehicle that will negotiate challenging road surface obstacles and electronic tests, on a model off-road track that emulates the concept of a Land Rover.  This Challenge is designed to provide a GCSE project suitable for Engineering (Double Award) incorporating study in Resistant Materials, Electronic Products, Systems and Control.

NOISE (New Outlooks In Science & Engineering) is a UK-wide campaign funded by the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Initiated in 2000, it aims to raise awareness of science and engineering among young people. The NOISE website has exciting experiments to try at home, interesting blogs by young scientists, fascinating articles and information on cool science & engineering careers, and you can even ask our NOISEmakers any questions that you might have.

Crossover II is a Year 6 D&T and ICT educational challenge for schools. It is about constructing a bridge in one school and a buggy to crossover in another with the only electronic communications between the two. On completion a joint event is held. Click and find out more and see the video clips on using tools.

Similar organisation to the Imagineering Foundation, offering National Events and Competitions as well as Young Engineer Clubs mainly targetting secondary school establishments

A network of over 200 science, engineering and technology clubs throughout Scotland, with a membership of more than 3,600 girls and boys participating in the Clubs.

The IEE's complementary website to its new Flipside magazine.  Flipside is a new magazine for teenagers covering everything technological from music and films to sport and adventure.

A campaign to raise awareness of engineering and technology as a stimulating career option and an essential and exciting part of modern Britain. It will start young people on a journey, making connections between the issues they face and the solutions engineering and technology can provide. And, to help them on their way, it will signpost opportunities for them to do one more thing – such as joining a Young Engineers club at their school or another similar initiative, participating in a classroom discussion or logging onto a website for more information.
